Randall Hicks is an
attorney who limits his practice to adoption. He practices no
other area of law. Randy is 47 years old and has been an attorney
for 18 years, working in the adoption field that entire time. He
assists in domestic adoptions, as well as international adoption.
(He has his own program in Ukraine.) For more about these
programs, please click below.
He is the author of
many acclaimed books on adoption. ADOPTING IN AMERICA: How To
Adopt Within One Year (now in its 4th edition) has been the
bestselling "how
to"
adoption book in the United States from 1994 to the present, and
is available in all chain bookstores. Because Randy's
practice is located in Southern California, he authored
ADOPTING IN CALIFORNIA: How To Adopt Within One Year. He also authored a children's
book designed to build positive self-esteem in young adoptees,
Adoption Stories for Young Children. Randy and his books have
been featured on The Today Show, the Leeza Gibbons Show,
Sally Jessy Raphael, as well as in the Los Angeles Times,
Chicago Sun Times, New York Times, American Library
Association's
Booklist and the National Resolve Newsletter. He was
also the host of the 1991 PBS educational series, Adoption
Forum.
Randy is an active
advocate for fair and effective adoption laws. He works regularly
with the California legislature, advising legislators regarding
needed changes in state law. He is also a frequent lecturer on
adoption, training attorneys, adoptive parents and health care
professionals about how to properly handle adoption matters.
Although Randy has
enjoyed success as an adoption author, his day-to-day life is as
an adoption attorney, whose goal is to help birth and adoptive
parents to plan ethical, loving, affordable and safe adoptions,
where everyone's
feelings are respected and honored. He is a member of the
prestigious American Academy of Adoption Attorneys (only 29
attorneys in the state are admitted).
If you are facing
an unplanned pregnancy and want to place your child for adoption,
or if you want to adopt a child, you can call Randy to learn more
about adoption. He will explain, in a pressure-free setting, how
adoption works, step-by-step. There are absolutely no costs to the
birth mother in placing a child for adoption. You will find that
Randy likes to keep a small-town feel to his office. This means
there are no associate attorneys working for him, nor any
paralegals. Randy is assisted only by his long-time secretary,
Tammy, so birth and adoptive parents always know who they are
working with. Randy only works with a small number of clients at
one time, to do his best to be sure everyone's
needs are met. Randy can be reached by calling 951-787-8300, or by
e-mailing him (ranhicks@aol.com).
He also has a special toll free phone number for women who wish to
