Gregg & Marisa
We would like to share something about ourselves to help you get to know us. We are Gregg and Marisa, and are grateful for the gift of each other. We also have a strong faith that we will blessed with the gift of a child, perhaps your child, to love and share the life we are building together.
We were married in June of 2004. We started our romance over a year earlier, first sharing a sunset over dinner and then enjoying the fall colors of a state park during a “photo” excursion (Gregg as the photographer, Marisa soaking in the beauty). A few weeks before our engagement, we had fun curbside at the Rose Parade (an annual tradition for Gregg who grew up in Pasadena).
We have been building a new life together since we started planning our wedding, blessed with the joy and peace of our love for each other. Our journey led us back to Southern California, where we were both born and raised. We spent our first year only blocks from the beach, walking together most mornings and making simple dinners as a team in the kitchen. For our second year, we bought a beautiful new home to give us room to build our family. We often walk the neighborhood hills in the morning to keep in shape and for a special evening drive a few miles down to the ocean to watch a sunset. Most nights we finish the evening snuggling on the couch with our cat, Henley (named by Gregg 10 years ago after a favorite musician).
Marisa writes: Gregg has many wonderful qualities. He is a generous, caring, and kind soul who has many friends who love him dearly. That is why I married him, and that is why I have been in awe of his devotion to my family and friends as well as their love for him. As a bonus, he is also a fun-loving “kid at heart.” Gregg is always ready with a frisbee at the beach and in his suitcase when he travels. It’s a great way to make new friends. He is proud to tell you about his many sandcastles and the “world record” he supposedly holds in smashball, and makes time to play volleyball once a week. Gregg is also an accomplished photographer and our home showcases favorites from forests to castles to sunsets at the beach. Friends say he has a way of capturing children in photographs, putting them at ease as he has done in many a Christmas photo.
Gregg writes: Marisa and I first met on a blind date arranged through two friends of ours. Since we lived 1000 miles apart, I was reluctant at first to pursue a relationship. However, we kept in touch – first through e-mail and then by phone – and as I came to know her, I realized what a special person she is. I was impressed with her honesty and openness. I learned of her devotion to her friends and family. I realized her sense of duty and determination. I discovered her love for children, from volunteering at a day care center for homeless families and a children’s hospital playroom to her recent joy of being an honorary aunt to her best friend’s children. And ultimately, after our second date, I came to realize that she was the one for me, in spite of the distance between us. This fact was confirmed a month later when my cat – who is not fond of strangers – jumped onto her lap the day she arrived for her first visit to Dallas.
We look forward to being parents to love and raise a child.
